What Is Pa66 Material

What Is Pa66 Material

pa66 is one of the widely used thermoplastic engineering plastics.
PA66 is a PA series of mechanical strength, wide range of applications, because of its high crystallinity, so its rigidity, heat resistance are higher. Translucent or opaque milky white crystalline polymer, with plasticity. Density 1.15g/cm3. Melting point 252℃. Embrittlement temperature -30℃. Thermal decomposition temperature is more than 350℃. Continuous heat resistance 80-120℃, equilibrium water absorption rate 2.5%. Excellent wear resistance, self-lubrication, high mechanical strength. But the water absorption is large, so the dimensional stability is poor.
Drying treatment: If the material is sealed before processing, then there is no need to dry. However, if the storage container is opened, then a drying process in hot air at 85°C is recommended. If the humidity is greater than 0.2%, vacuum drying at 105°C for 12 hours is also required.
Melting temperature: 260~290°C. 275~280℃ for products with glass additives. Melting temperature should be avoided higher than 300℃.
Mold temperature: 80℃ is recommended. Mold temperature will affect the crystallinity, which will affect the physical properties of the product. For thin-walled plastic parts, if a mold temperature lower than 40℃ is used, the crystallinity of the plastic part will change over time and annealing is required to maintain the geometric stability of the plastic part.
Injection pressure: Usually 750~1250bar, depending on the material and product design.
Injection speed: High speed (should be slightly lower for reinforced materials).
Runners and gates: Since PA66 has a short solidification time, the location of the gate is very important. The gate aperture should not be less than 0.5*t (where t is the thickness of the plastic part). If using a hot runner, the gate size should be smaller than with a conventional runner because the hot runner can help stop the material from solidifying prematurely. If a submerged gate is used, the small diameter of the gate should be 0.75mm.
Typical applications PA66 is more widely used in the automotive industry, in instrument housings and other products where impact resistance and high strength are required. Widely used in the manufacture of mechanical, automotive, chemical and electrical device parts, such as gears, rollers, pulleys, rollers, impellers in pump bodies, fan blades, high-pressure sealing enclosures, valve seats, gaskets, bushings, various handles, support frames, wire cladding, etc.. It can also be made into film and used as packaging material. In addition, it can also be used to make medical equipment, sporting goods, daily necessities, etc.
